Apple Iphone 4 Os New Feature Of Multitasking Not To Affect Battery Life
Apple iPhone 4 OS new feature of Multitasking must has certainly brought a plenty of joy to the users. The previous versions of iPhone OS lacked multitasking tremendously. In the previous versions, if you are working on the mail and if you click on some webpage-link at the same time, your mail is closed and you are switched to the Safari browser. Thereafter again, you have to click on the mail icon to go back to mail. Now with multitasking, you can easily switch between applications instantly.
Apple also claims that its multitasking in iPhone 4 OS will not have any effect on the battery life. Let us see the mechanism behind the multitasking. Apple has made sure that all the resources are available to all the applications, with the system giving priority to some tasks and less preference to others. In earlier OS version, the system provides equal priority to all the processes and hence there is a loss of memory. This will slow down your system. Its effects will also be seen on CPU’s performance which would deplete the battery life( external battery).
Apple has introduced 7 new services in iPhone 4 OS and ensures that these services will give the user the kind of multitasking they demanded. Now with apps like Skype, you can continue to receive calls even when the calling app is not the foreground app. The background location of the new OS works at two levels and allows you to access the location applications even if you do not have the app open ( external laptop battery).
Apple iPhone 4 OS multitasking facility allows you to include audio in the background, so that applications like Pandora can play music in the background. Apple has also enhanced its existing push notification service with new local notifications services. Using which, the apps will post reminders without using Apple’s servers. Another multitasking mechanism used by Apple is the fast app switching by which you can restore the state of an app when you switch out and back. As mentioned earlier, it also makes use of task completion mechanism of multitasking. This will allow you to finish any tasks started before switching to another application( external li ion laptop battery).
Thus, Apple has managed to resolve complaints of the users who wanted to perform several activities at the same time. Let us see how the public responds now.

Really i don’t think you should get a Mac, aesthetically yes its a very pretty computer
. But you can get a computer that’s just as good for half the price. My first laptop was this pink, bulky thing my parents had picked out (bless them xD) and it lasted me 4 years. How long does the update procedure take for iPhone OS 4 firmware?
Hi,
I plugged my iPhone 3G 8GB into itunes (version 9.2) at approx half an hour ago, to update the firmware from 3.1.3 to the new OS 4 firmware. Has anyone completed this yet who could tell me how long it took?
As after 30 mins I’m still sitting on the “Backing up iPhone” screen and the bar has progressed by about a cm!

Since every current iPhone owner, like the 2 people above ;D , are upgrading to the new software, the server is going to be slow. I would try to do it either tomorrow or in 2 days but that’s up to you.
Can I get the iPhone 4 OS on my iPhone 3GS?
Last year, I switched from Verizon to AT&T and purchased a 16gb iPhone 3gs. This past weekend it got stolen, so I decided to buy a new iPhone 3gs off of ebay. My question is, can I get the iPhone 4 OS installed onto this iPhone since I did not purchase it through AT&T? How do I do so?
Yes. You can get iOS4 from iTunes without a problem. It has nothing to do with AT&T.
To upgrade to iOS4 on your iPhone 3GS you will first of all have to upgrade iTunes 9.2, you can download or upgrade iTunes 9.2 using the Apple Update manager.
Once you have updated your iTunes, connect your iPhone, accept the terms and visit the summary page for the device.
On that page, you will see a button to “Check for Update”, click on it to see if the new iOS4 update is available for your device. If there is one you can then follow the normal upgrade process and your iPhone 3GS will be updated to use iOS4.
P.S. Apple changed the name of iPhone OS to iOS since it’s also used on iPads and iPod Touches.
