How to Make Your HP Printer iPad Compatible

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard about the iPad. With all of its impressive features, the iPeople discounted one important component – the ability to print to any HP printer. Fortunately, iPad printing applications are now being unveiled for HP printer users like you. Let’s examine a few iPad printing options for your HP printer.

For Epson Printers

If you use an Epson printer, you can print from your iPad using the Epson iPrint app. Originally released for the iPod, iPrint can now be used with an iPad over a WiFi connection. Epson users can get iPrint at no cost from the App Store.

For Canon Users

If you’re looking to print photos from your iPad to a wireless Canon printer, use the free Canon app called Easy Photo-Print for iPhone. Unfortuantely, this app can only print photos, not text.

For Hewlett-Packard Users

HP has a similar free iPad app called HP iPrint Photo.

For Lexmark Users

Lexmark printer users can use an iPad printing app called Air Sharing HD. The app costs 10 dollars and does not work with PCs – just Macs. Air Sharing HD does not access files directly off of your iPad. Instead, the app communicates with a server (e.g. email account) to print a document. In other words, you can email an iPad document to yourself and then open it in Air Sharing HD to print. This app was compatible with Lexmark and Epson printers, but had trouble printing on an HP.

Lexmark users can also buy a direct printing app called ePrint. Again, this app works only with Macs.

Additonal iPad Printing Options

One of the more well-known iPad printing applications is PrintCentral, by EuroSmartz. This app will print from any printer, including your HP, to a PC over a WiFi connection. PrintCentral costs 10 dollars at the App Store and allows users to print web pages, images, and contacts.

HP printer users can also purchase Print Magic by Wellala, Inc., for at the App Store. This app allows users to print text, graphics, and web pages from your iPad.

How to Save on HP Printer Ink

Now that printing is more accessible for iPad users, many consumers are looking for ways to save on printing expenses. The best way to decrease printing costs is to nix those overpriced store-bought HP printer cartridges, and purchase remanufactured HP printer cartridges instead.

Let’s take a look at an example. A typical HP black printer cartridge costs around from a retail store. A remanufactured black HP printer cartridge, however, will only cost around from a trusted online supplier. That’s half the price – plus all cartridges come with a satisfaction guarantee!

Remanufactured HP cartridges will not only save money, they are also eco-friendly and help lower the amount of toxins in our land and atmosphere. Consumers can feel good about buying remanufactured printer cartridges because they are recycled. You’ll also feel good when you complete your first print job using a remanufactured HP cartridge and notice that the quality is just as good as an expensive retail cartridge!

iOS 4.2 is for iPad only ?
I’ve heard it will bring some of the major features to iPad…but what changes will be done in iPod touch 4g or iPhone 4…?? I wanna know about it. Can you please provide details..??

    • Mydaily Gadget says:

iOS 4.2 was designed for the iPad but it will be available on almost all Apple devices out there. As for the features that will bring for the iPhone 4, check my source.

Will photobooth, iMovie, and garage band apps be available to to iPod touch 4G users?
I saw the unveiling of the iPad 2 and am a little jealous of the cool apps! Will they be available to ipod touch 4G users with iOS 4.3 as well?

    Using MyTouch 4G (T-Mobile) as a Wi-Fi source for iPad 3G? Possible?
Hello. I am planing on getting a MyTouch 4G (T-Mobile) and a iPad 3G for GPS use. As of now I am using a MyTouch 3G and I already have a data plan on it, so it will be transfered to the MyTouch 4G when I get it. I do not want to be paying another $25/2GB for the ATnT data plan. I think there is a way around it. Can you guys tell me about it?

    My questions are:
    1. Is there a software on Android that will allow my phone to act as if it was my Wi-Fi router, so that I can connect my iPad via Wi-Fi to it? If yes, that what is it called?
    2. Will I be able to use my phone to make phone calls while the iPad is connect to it via Wi-Fi?

    Thanks…

    • Ian G says:

No app is required. The feature is already built into the phone. Go to Settings, then Wireless 7 Networks, then Portable WiFi Hotspot settings. Follow the prompts to set it up. Once running, any wifi enabled device will be able to connect to it.

When is the iPad 2 coming out?
I’m saving up for an iPad at the moment. I’ve been hearing rumors that the iPad to will be coming out soon around April. I always thought that Apple comes out with new generations every September? I am not planning on buying the iPad 2, because I have the iPod touch 4g with a camera. But if the iPad 2 comes out, the regular iPad will go down in price right? Thanks!

    • Ana Nevada says:

The next-generation of iPad may launch in the first week of April, on the 2nd or 9th. The iPad 2 will also get Retina Display, USB port and two cameras. The Retina Display they mention, though, won’t be of the same DPI resolution of the iPhone 4: it will sport a higher resolution, although no details have been provided by the source. And yes, the regular iPad will go down in price when iPad 2 was finally out in the market.

iPod Touch 4G, iPad, or iPad 2?
Ok, so right now i have about $200. I think my dad wants to give me $100 so i can just buy it, and i was alright with that, excited even. Then we went to BestBuy and i got to use both. I was more impressed with the ipad than the ipod touch 4G, since of course i had an ipod touch 2g, sold it, and it was about the same. The iPad was just a whole new experience for me. A whole screen in the palm of my hands. It was awesome to put it short, and now i really want the ipad, but it’s really expensive. Should i save up, and get the ipad, or should i get the ipod touch 4G? And here comes the 2nd question. Should i wait for the iPad 2? I mean, i know that maybe in a year or so, i’ll get the money, like idk, maybe a few more hundred bucks, and I know that by that time, Apple will release the new iPad. Do you think that if i do decide to get the ipad, i should save up and get the new one? Will it cost the same? Will it have new features? Will there be more variety in tablets in that time, speaking of maybe 2011?
Any answers would be really appreciated.

Your printer is an HP Photosmart Wireless e-All-in-One Printer which means it is an ePrint compatible printer.

HP ePrint : ePrint is a free service from HP that allows you to print from your email-capable device to your Web-connected printer, anytime, from any location, over the Internet. It is as simple as sending an email to the email address assigned to your product when you set up the ePrint service.

AirPrint : Apple’s AirPrint uses your local wireless network to print directly from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a local HP ePrint product.

To use AirPrint for printing, you need the following requirements:
iOS 4.2 running on an Apple iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch
iOS 4.2 may be installed as an iOS update to a current or older Apple device, or may already be included with a new Apple iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.

      A wireless network
The Apple device (iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch) and the HP ePrint product must be available on the same 802.11 wireless network. AirPrint uses Bonjour, Apple’s zero-configuration networking, to automatically discover the HP ePrint product over the local wireless network.

      Please note the following:
AirPrint is only compatible via an 802.11 wireless network. AirPrint is only compatible with iOS 4.2 and Apple mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch).
AirPrint is only compatibility with HP ePrint products released in 2010. AirPrint is not backwards compatible with any older products.

      An HP ePrint-enabled product
All HP ePrint products will be AirPrint compatible by the end of 2010. However, not all HP ePrint products are AirPrint compatible out of the box. Refer to the AirPrint compatibility schedule that follows to find out which products are or will be AirPrint compatible. On some models, a firmware update may be required to enable AirPrint compatibility.

How to get started with HP ePrint
To use HP ePrint, you need to have your printer connected to the Internet.
      • Press the Wireless button on the HP Photosmart front panel.
      • Select the Web Services menu from the printer display. From here, you can turn the service on
or off, display the printer’s email address, and print an information page.

      Print from anywhere
HP’s free ePrint service provides an easy way to print from email, anywhere and anytime. Just
forward an email to your printer’s email address from your computer or mobile device, and both
the email message and recognized attachments will print.

      • HP ePrint might not have come with your printer, but you can easily add it via product update.
See http://www.hp.com/go/ePrinterCenter for availability and details.

      • Attachments may print differently than they appear in the software program which created
them, depending on the original fonts and layout options used.

      • Free product updates are provided with this service. Some updates may be required to enable
      certain functionality.

      Your printer is protected
To help prevent unauthorized email, HP assigns a random email address to your printer, never
publicizes this address, and by default does not respond to any sender. HP ePrint also provides
industry-standard spam filtering and transforms email and attachments to a print-only format to
reduce the threat of a virus or other harmful content.
      • The HP ePrint service does not filter emails based on content, so it cannot prevent
objectionable or copyrighted material from being printed.

How to print from iPad to a printer?
I need to print things from my iPad onto my wired printer. I know there are ways of doing it with a wireless printer. Is it possible? or do I have to buy a wireless printer? Thanks alot!
    James :)

    • G Man says:

Simplest way, I think, is to email the document, then open the email on a computer connected to the printer. In Pages, I think there is a button that sends the document straight to email

Only brand new wireless printers let you print directly from the iPad. They are easy to find if you are looking for one.
